CAMRA Discount Pubs
As you may be aware, The Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) is a national organisation with over 100,000 members. This is made up of a number of local branches, of which Derby is one. In the Derby branch area there are hundreds of members, all of whom are thirsty drinkers.
In some areas of the country, publicans offer a discount to card carrying CAMRA members, often in the region of 10-25p per pint of Real Ale or Traditional Cider. This scheme is very popular within the nearby Nottingham area with upwards of 20 pubs taking part. A list of the participating pubs is printed in every issue of The Nottingham Drinker.
The Derby branch is trying to collate a list of pubs in the Derby area that are currently offering, or would like to offer a similar discount.
If you wish to take part in this scheme, your pub would be mentioned in every issue of Derby Drinker and Mild & Bitter (Derby members only monthly news letter), listing the discount you give. As well as this you will be included on the Derby CAMRA website and the National CAMRA website, this will help visitors to this area locate your pub.
A5 empty belly posters can be provided to advertise the scheme in your pub. A sample membership card can be provided to ensure that this discount is only given to the people who it is aimed at.
This scheme will hopefully benefit you by raising awareness of your pub and encouraging CAMRA members to drink in other pubs out of their comfort zone, whilst the discount may encourage others to join CAMRA.
